The Executive Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Hon. (Dr.) Babatunde Oyetola Diya, Today Thursday, September 4th, 2025, joined the Odogbolu-Igede community in celebrating this year’s New Yam Festival.
The colourful event, which held amidst pomp and pageantry, was graced by members of the Executive Council of Odogbolu Local Government, traditional leaders, youth groups, women associations, and other community stakeholders.
Hon. Diya, who supported the festival financially, described the New Yam Festival as a symbol of unity, abundance, and cultural identity. He commended the Odogbolu-Igede community for upholding their heritage while fostering peace and harmony within the Local Government.
In his goodwill message, the Chairman urged members of the community to take advantage of their strong numerical presence in Odogbolu Local Government by registering for their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.assuring them of more dividends of democracy under his leadership.
“We are proud of the Odogbolu-Igede community for their commitment to culture, peace, and development. As we celebrate the blessings of a bountiful harvest, let us also prepare ourselves politically by ensuring that every eligible son and daughter of this community obtains their PVC. Together, we can consolidate on the gains of good governance and secure more opportunities for our people,” he said.
The event concluded with cultural displays, traditional dances, and prayers for continued peace, prosperity, and growth of Odogbolu Local Government.
