President Bola Tinubu has declared an emergency on security training facilities across the country. He says the condition of these institutions is no longer acceptable.

The directive comes as the government pushes for stronger internal security and better-trained officers.

The move affects police and civil defence training centres nationwide. It also covers other security bodies involved in law enforcement and national safety.

This development was made public during an inspection tour in Lagos by Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State. Mbah leads the National Economic Council ad-hoc committee assigned to reposition Nigeria’s security training system.

Speaking to journalists, he said: “What we’ve observed today is consistent with what President Tinubu recognized when he visited the council chamber on October 23 and personally approved the inauguration of this ad hoc committee tasked with overhauling all training institutions of the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.”

He added that the President expects results quickly, stressing the urgency of the assignment.
